Find out why hair falls out

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common among people, however, other types also impair hair health

In general, people are increasingly concerned with hair and an example of this is the growth of the cosmetic industry, which invests more and more in products aimed at hair beauty, in order to offer more and more options for who is adept at this type of consumption. There are several options that promise to make hair more beautiful and also healthier, after all, shine and softness is not everything, it is also necessary to have resistant and well-hydrated hair, isn’t it?

However, even if there is a lot of care, some people are not exempt from experiencing some problems, and when they least expect it they encounter a large amount of hair in the brush or in the bathroom sink. According to experts, hair loss can happen due to several factors, sometimes it is due to lack of vitamins in the body or even a consequence of stress, however, if there is a history in the family of bald people, it is very likely that other generations will also pass for this problem. Anyway, any sign of exacerbated hair loss is a reason to be alert, because only a specialist doctor can give an accurate diagnosis and pass the appropriate treatment.

How to identify hair loss due to baldness

There are some signs that may indicate androgenetic alopecia, one of the most common types of baldness in people. They are characterized by the famous entries that come to mind. According to the plastic surgeon specialized in hair transplantation, Dr. Alan Wells, this alopecia happens because it is stimulated by the gene that can come from both the father and the mother, that is, it is hereditary. “It is more common in men because in addition to being genetic it is stimulated by testosterone, basically, the hormone when it reaches the hair root undergoes an action of an enzyme and, then, the hair becomes thinner until it disappears with time ”, He explains.

To identify a baldness it is necessary to analyze a whole context, not always a hair loss means that it is alopecia because it is common to lose an average of 100 hairs per day, however, they do not fall all at once, they are hairs that they may fall off while bathing while combing while tying them, and moreover, it occurs more commonly in old age, but young people can also face this pathology. However, the only way to identify it is by paying attention to hair health and keeping an eye on your hair, and in difficult-to-see regions it is important to ask someone to take a look from time to time, if you notice very fine hair and some flaws, stay watch out, because those are the signs.

Some other types of alopecia

This is also quite common, but it occurs differently from androgenetic alopecia. In this case, it can happen because of an autoimmune reaction in the body, but it can be related to emotional factors. It is characterized by having an intense fall, the strands fall in any region of the scalp and in large quantities, thus making it difficult to hide. The ideal is to consult a doctor so that he can investigate the cause and pass on possible treatments.

In this case, the scalp paralyzes the production of new hair and causes scarring in the affected region. It can be defined in two categories: the primary, which is caused by autoimmune or inflammatory processes. And the secondary, when the hair loss is caused by burns, chemicals, mycoses, radiation exposure, among other factors. “Some symptoms are itchiness, scalp with redness and hair loss itself. Primary scarring alopecia can be alleviated or stopped if diagnosed early. That is why it is important to pay attention to capillary health ”, says the surgeon.

This is not really a type of alopecia, but it is worth mentioning because it is a condition, in which, hair falls in larger quantities and everyone is subject to go through it. In general, the wires go through three phases: birth and growth, growth deceleration and, finally, the fall, as this way, the cycle can repeat itself.

According to Dr. Wells, the effluvium occurs when some factor hinders growth, causing an imbalance and this increases the amount of hair that can fall out. Among the main reasons that cause this hair loss are: depression, postpartum period, menopause, restrictive diets and even the use of some medications. The condition is reversible and the wires grow back, but it is important to consult a doctor to identify what causes the fall, in order to avoid failures or to occur again.

There is no rule for treatments against alopecia because each case is very specific and it is necessary to evaluate the patient’s entire history, mainly because the symptoms do not appear the same for everyone. Usually, when diagnosed early, it is possible to make a clinical treatment with medications indicated for each case, they can also vary according to the adaptation of the patient’s organism. “There is also the possibility of having a hair transplant, but this procedure is indicated only in cases of androgenetic alopecia, as the surgery consists of removing healthy follicles from the patient’s own scalp and inserting them in the regions where the fall has occurred”, explains the expert.

As mentioned, hair transplantation can also be recommended, a very effective method is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), the technique brings great results for those who have already developed baldness completely, that is when there is no possibility of new hairs growing. “In this case, it is recommended for those who suffer from androgenetic alopecia and identified the pathology when it was already at a more advanced level. This type of baldness does not cause total hair loss, so we use the patient’s own wires that are removed from the nape and sides of the head and relocate in the region where the fall occurred. There are thousands of follicles removed one by one, so it is a time-consuming surgery, but the recovery is fast and the hair grows back after a period ”, concludes the doctor.
